About the Camp

Sports Camps Australia has partnered with Blast Off and Office of Sport to deliver ‘play and stay’ camps hosted at Sport and Recreation venues across NSW. These camps are designed to give each participant the true camp experience - with a focus on sport-specific skills, fun, friendships, developing well-rounded athletes and creating life-long memories.

This is a unique opportunity to be a part of the very first ever Blast Off camp and be coached by some of the very best surf coaches in OZ. Designed by 1988 World Surfing Champion Barton Lynch, Blast Off is part coaching program part surfing championships and a whole lot of fun. For the past 15 years kids from all over have looked forward to one event more than any other on the Australian surfing calendar and that is BLAST OFF!

The camp program emulates many aspects of the Blast Off events including Blast Off Idol, indigenous and cultural activities, fitness, focus and FUN. In addition, camp participants will also have access to a number of existing activities available on site including such things as kayaking, court sports, bikes and a number of other team and confidence building activities.

All camp participants are provided with accommodation to rest their head at the end of an action-packed day, with nutritious meals and refreshments provided throughout the day.

Our Surf partners, BL Blast Off will be responsible for the delivery of this camp. For over 20 years, Barton Lynch (BL) has coached and mentored surfers of all levels, helping individuals unlock their greatest potential. BL is a World Tour Champion and has been inducted into both the Australian Surfing Hall of Fame and the Australian Sporting Hall of Fame. Head Coach & Camp Director, Beau Mitchell, surfed professionally for over 15 years and his highest tour finish was 23rd. Beau was coached, managed and mentored by BL with the two good mates now teaming up to coach and mentor surfers in Australia. Beau will be joined by a team of supporting coaches to be announced soon.

Basing himself in Hawaii these days, BL will be zooming in on regular occasions throughout the camp to check up on the campers, pass on his wisdom and provide plenty of opportunities to interact.
